Para quem ainda não viu, vale à pena dar uma conferida nesse documentário. É sobre a campanha do Al Gore para alertar sobre os efeitos do "Global Warming", uma verdade mais que inconveniente. O filme é focado na palestra que Al Gore dá ao redor do mundo visando à conscientização e mobilização de todos nós em torno desse tema. Mostra a sua longa batalha, uma vida dedicada à tentativa de reverter os efeitos do Global Warming expondo os dados científicos e últimos estudos dos efeitos do aquecimento global que estão acontecendo AGORA. Chocante. Um tapa na cara pra ver se acordamos. Dados indiscutíveis, que só não estão na agenda política exatamente porque não estão na agenda política... Al Gore já deu mais de 1000 palestras em várias partes do globo numa tentativa incessante de que algo seja feito, antes que seja muito tarde. A situação é grave, muito grave... Mas a notícia boa é que podemos reverter esse quadro.

Was very impressed with Al Gore's documentary. I thought I was doing my bit for the environment already - by recycling and reducing my carbon footprint - but it made me realise that its just a drop in the ocean (no pun intended).
seems like now I also need to start lobbying politicians. too many people remain apathetic to the problem, either in the thought that somehow its someone else that needs to deal with it. Or that somehow it is a part of a larger natural cycle.
I think Al Gore's documentary goes some distance to illustrate just how much of an impact industry is having on the environment, and what I liked about it most was that he was able to show how we still have a way out of this situation.
There is enough that can still be done to reverse - or at the very least - minimise the effects of global climate change. Seems to me that global commerce as well as governments need to take the lead - instead of looking at the bottom line they need to take a look out the window.
Man has only been around for a relatively short geological span so of course we don't know what mother nature may yet have in store for us and thats aside from the risks of climate change.
We can't just shrug our shoulders and abandon ourselves to 'the end is nigh' mindset. We need to maintain our resolve and stay the course by not giving into the doom and gloom but exercising restraint and limit our impact on natural resources.
As fanciful as it may sound I do remain hopeful that we may yet be on the threshold of technological breakthrough - like interstellar travel - that can help us save the true garden of Eden we were born into, planet Earth.
